GRAMMAR TRANSLATION METHOD


·         Material/topic              : Narrative Text

·         Teaching Procedurs     :
1.      Pre Activity
a.       Teacher enters the classroom, greets the students and asks them how their condition are.
Example: “Assalamu’alaikum,good morning my students. How are you today? Before we start our study lets pray together”.
b.      Teacher checking students attendance.
Example : “who is absent today?”.
c.       Teacher giving motivation for students.
Example : teacher read mini script Narrative Text in English language and after that teacher translate it into Indonesia language.
Once upon a time, there was a kingdom named Auretto, all people lived peacefully there. One of them was Charlita, the king’s daughter who was assumed as the most beautiful and kindest Princess of Auretto. (Zaman dahulu kala, ada sebuah kerajaan bernama Auretto, semua orang hidup damai di sana. Salah satunya adalah Charlita, putri raja yang dianggap sebagai Putri yang paling cantik dan paling baik hati dari Auretto.)

2.      Core Activity
a.       Students do to the task 1 (easy task)
b.      Students do to the task 2 (middle task)
c.       Students do to the task 3 (hard task)

3.      Post Activity
a.       Teacher gives conclusion of the material.
Example : “ oke my students, the sentences which we study just now contains of narrative text. And we will study about it deeply next week”.
b.      Teacher gives homework for students
Example : “ my students, for homework please make narrative text by yourself and then translate it into Indonesian laguange.
c.       Teacher say Hamdallah and say good bye
Example : “ oke time is over. See you next week,and lets pray Hamdallah together.
·         Task 1 (easy task)
Translate this paragraph into English language.
Suatu hari, Charlita terlihat biru. Karena itu ayahnya bingung. "Ada apa dengan anak ku yang cantik? Mengapa kau begitu sedih? "Tanya Raja Fernando. Charlita hanya diam. Dia tidak mengatakan apa-apa.

 (One day, Charlita looked blue. Because of that her father got confused. “What’s the matter my beautiful daughter? Why are you so sad?” asked King Fernando. Charlita was just silent. She did not say anything.)

·         Task 2 (middle task)
Translate this paragraph into Indonesian language.
Then, King Fernando decided to make a competition to cheer Charlita again. After that, the palace representative announce: “I will make a competition. The aim is to make my daughter, Princess Charlita to be happy and laugh again. Everyone who can do it, will get a prize. It will be held tomorrow when the sun rises.  The following morning, everybody came to the palace, tried to give their best performance. They seemed happy and laugh, but not for Princess Charlita. She was just silent and still looked sad.

(Kemudian, Raja Fernando memutuskan untuk membuat sebuah kompetisi untuk menghibur Charlita lagi. Setelah itu, perwakilan istana mengumumkan: "Aku akan membuat kompetisi. Tujuannya adalah untuk membuat anak saya, Putri Charlita untuk menjadi bahagia dan tertawa lagi. Setiap orang yang bisa melakukannya, akan mendapatkan hadiah. Ini akan diadakan besok saat matahari terbit. Keesokan harinya, semua orang datang ke istana, mencoba untuk memberikan penampilan terbaik mereka. Mereka tampak bahagia dan tertawa, tetapi tidak untuk Princess Charlita. Dia hanya diam dan masih tampak sedih)


·         Task 3 (hard task)

Students in group consist of 5 students make a paragraph about Narrative Text in Indonesian language then translate it into English language.
